MELAKA, Feb 24 (Bernama) -- Donations from Malaysia continue to pour in for victims of the earthquake that hit Turkiye earlier this month.
Joining the effort was Mamee Double Decker (M) Sdn Bhd (Mamee) which contributed 450,000 packets of instant noodles worth RM318,000.
The donation was handed over to Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali at Seri Bendahara, here today.
Mamee executive director Datuk Gary Choo Kok Sen said the donation was made as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to lend a helping hand to those in need.
“Turkiye is one of Mamee’s customers, and we have been exporting our products there for a long time, thus we are depeply concerned about what happened there.
“So, this is one of the ways for us to help the victims and rescue members by providing them with comfort food,” he told reporters after the donation handover ceremony.
Meanwhile, Sulaiman said donations from any party, including corporate bodies and non-governmental organisations are very much welcomed as they would lessen the burden of those affected by the calamity in Turkiye and Syria.
