JITRA, March 23 (Bernama) -- Four local fashion brands in Kedah collaborated in the 'Kedah Rona Raya' fashion which also offers Baju Raya Rahmah or Rahmah Raya Clothing to help ease the burden of the B40 group in making preparations for Aidilfitri celebration.

People can choose quality baju raya at affordable prices offered by these entrepreneurs, namely the Liyana Collection (LYC) which sells clothes at prices starting as low as RM35 while Nabella Butik (RM39) and Duchess Exclusive by CPG and Qamraa (RM59).

The founder of Duchess, Mawar Ismail said that she and the other three fashion brands believe that the current economic situation is slow, prompting them to offer baju raya at low prices to the B40 group, with the hope that it would help the people have a merrier Aidilfitri celebration.

“We (produce) in a large quantity, there is still enough profit though not as much as if we sell them at normal prices. Considering the current economic situation which seems to be slow, which coincides with children returning to school and then (celebrating) raya, we feel that it's okay to sell the clothes at Rahmah prices, the goods are sold and people get new clothes, that's what's important,” she said at a press conference here.

On March 15, these four brands joined together in a fashion show in Alor Setar to showcase their baju raya designs and collections which was attended by about 500 people as well as government agencies such as Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and Kedah Regional Development Authority (KEDA).

Commenting further, Mawar said the price offered will continue even after Aidilfitri celebration and her brand Duchess provides a variety of designs, especially in terms of patterns that are constantly changing to maintain variety.

Meanwhile, LYC manager Noraizat Abdul Ghani said if the rahmah stock is sold out, he will increase the stock with different designs and colours to ensure customers enjoy the variety offered.

“For baju raya rahmah, we also offer kurtas and children's clothing and some are priced as low as RM35...So far, a majority of our customers are repeat customers, so we want to make sure they have a different experience with the design and other clothes,” he said.

Qamraa's managing director Rabia Saad said that her company produces clothes at affordable prices after taking into account the situation after the COVID-19 pandemic when customers' purchasing behaviour has changed to choosing clothes that are cheap rather than focusing on the brands.

“In the past, Qamraa only produced designs which were priced at RM200 and above. However, we realised that after the COVID-19 pandemic, the customer's behaviour has also changed, as they don’t follow the brands anymore,” she said.

Meanwhile, the founder of Nabella Butik, Siti Nabilah Dol Bahrin said that she also focuses on a variety of clothing designs, including the baju rahmah to offer a wide selection to customers at affordable prices.
