37 Malaysian Companies Participating In Hofex 2023

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) -- A total of 37 Malaysian companies are taking part in Hong Kong’s Trade and Hospitality Exhibition (HOFEX) 2023, which is the first time that the biennial international trade exhibition is held in Hong Kong post-pandemic.

The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) said the companies are showcasing various food products, ranging from health and functional food, ready-to-eat and ready-to-drink products, sauces and pastes, food ingredients, durian and durian-based products as well as bird’s nest products.

In a statement today, it said the significant number of companies participating in HOFEX demonstrated Malaysian brands’ strong interest to leverage the exhibition as a platform to access markets such as Hong Kong, China and Northeast Asia. 

MATRADE highlighted that 95 per cent of products in Hong Kong’s food and beverage (F&B) market were imported, noting that the city is also a major trading hub for re-exporting goods into China, Macao and other surrounding markets in Asia. 

“There is also a growing interest in halal F&B in the market due to its clean and safe concept," it said. 

Hence, MATRADE -- through its office in Hong Kong -- is linking potential local importers and distributors to source products from the participating Malaysian exhibitors.

Held from May 10-12 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the event features more than 1,200 international brands as well as over 25,000 buyers.
