KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 (Bernama) -- Commerce Dot Com Sdn Bhd (CDC) has proudly announced its support for one of its employees, Ahmad Afzal Mohd Shahar, who is representing the Malaysian national footgolf team competing at the ongoing Federation of International FootGolf (FIFG) World Cup 2023 in Orlando, Florida.
CDC said that Ahmad Afzal, 39, currently 40th in the world ranking, is taking part in men’s individual and men’s team categories in the 11-day tournament, starting May 27 until June 6. His first game was held on Monday (May 29).
“As part of the CDC’s culture of resilience and winning mentality, we believe that Afzal and the Malaysian team will strive for victory and make us proud,” CDC said in a statement.
A special flag-off ceremony for Ahmad Afzal, a senior executive at the CDC Corporate Division, was held at Wisma Commercedotcom, Petaling Jaya, on May 18.
It was officiated by CDC executive chairman, Syed Azmin Syed Nor and group chief executive officer, Muzafar Kamal Shahaluddin.
CDC said that it will be highlighting the Malaysian team's progress constantly throughout the tournament via Instagram@commercedotcom.
The ongoing fourth edition of FIFG witnessed the largest turnout from 40 countries, competing in three categories (Men, Senior and Women) in two different formats (Individual and Team Matches).
The Malaysian footgolf national team consists of 21 players, among whom are former national football player, Shahril Arsat and women's football national team captain, Steffi Sidhu.
CDC, an e-commerce service provider for companies and the government to conduct business electronically, said that the company has a long history of supporting sports programmes and initiatives, at both local and international levels.
Notable programmes include the CDC Golf Scramble Tournament 2015, Shell Eco-Marathon Challenge 2017 and Everest Base Camp Expedition 2019.
