IPOH, June 1 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak director Azmi Osman is scheduled for a compulsory retirement beginning tomorrow.
Former Kedah JBPM director Sayani Saidon will succeed him as the state JBPM director.
Earlier, the handover of duties ceremony took place at the Perak JBPM Headquarters which was also witnessed by JBPM deputy director-general (Development) Datuk Nor Hisham Mohamad.
Azmi was celebrated in a retirement parade after logging out of the headquarters’ biometric scan for the last time.
He received the commander's salute before proceeding to inspect the guard of honour mounted by two officers led by Deputy Fire Chief II, Azman Husin and 35 personnel of various ranks and accompanied by the JBPM band led by Ahmed Najabah Zuel.
Azmi started his career at JBPM in July 1997 and has held various key positions and contributed his efforts in empowering community programmes at the national level, among other things.
Meanwhile, Sayani who has served in the state as JBPM deputy director told reporters that he will continue Azmi’s legacy as well as the efforts to empower Perak JBPM in addition to improving other aspects.
