KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 (Bernama) -- SKS Airways Sdn Bhd, which launched commercial flights from Subang in January 2022, has appointed Dzuleira Abu Bakar as chief executive officer (CEO) effective Sept 15, 2023.
Dzuleira, who is currently serving out her notice of resignation as CEO of the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI), will take over from current acting CEO and executive director Datuk Rohman Ahmad, the airline said in a statement today.
Rohman will remain on the board of SKS Airways as executive director.
“Dzuleira is a visionary leader with more than 20 years of excellent track record in venture capital, entrepreneurship, investments, and the technology industry,” SKS Airways said.
Meanwhile, Dzuleira said she is delighted to be appointed as SKS Airways CEO.
“It is an interesting time to be in the aviation industry and I'm excited by the vision the shareholders have for SKS Airways. SKS Airways is ripe with potential and I'm looking forward to leading the airline,” she said.
Last month, SKS Airways forged strategic partnerships with aviation industry leaders, Embraer Asia Pacific and Azorra Aviation Holdings, to lease ten Embraer E195-E2 single-aisle jets in a deal worth over US$840 million (RM3.9 billion) from Azorra.
The airline said the first two Embraer E195-E2 jets would arrive in January 2024, complementing the new fleet.
