KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 (Bernama) -- Telecommunication service providers are committed to supporting the government’s Madani Economy framework through affordable connectivity and devices and will continue to work closely as an industry to further narrow the digital divide.

In a joint statement today, five telecommunication service providers said they welcome the government’s latest announcement on the 5G Rahmah package and Rahmah Civil Servants Postpaid Incentive in conjunction with the National Month celebrations.

“The 5G Rahmah package and Rahmah Civil Servants Postpaid Incentive will be launched on Aug 31, 2023. Customers are advised to check the service providers' websites for the available packages,” it said.

The companies consist of CelcomDigi Bhd, Maxis Bhd, Telekom Malaysia Bhd (Unifi Mobile), U Mobile Sdn Bhd and YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (Yes).

Effective Aug 31, civil servants would be able to enjoy a monthly rebate of RM10 for their respective postpaid mobile package under the Rahmah Civil Servants Postpaid Incentive, announced by the Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil on Monday.

Fahmi also shared that his ministry, with the cooperation of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), telecommunication service providers (telcos) and two device manufacturers, Samsung Malaysia and Honor Malaysia are offering the 5G Rahmah package starting Aug 31 in conjunction with the National Month celebrations.

The 5G Rahmah package is a 5G device bundle data plan priced at RM60 a month, with the choice of either a Samsung A14 5G or Honor 90 Lite 5G at prices as low as RM240.
