KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 (Bernama) -- A total of 20 Malaysian oil and gas (O&G) companies will be participating in this year’s Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), the largest O&G exhibition in the Middle East.

Held for three days beginning Oct 2, they will be involved in more than 120 business meetings arranged between Malaysian exhibitors and international partners from the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Europe.

“The strong interest from Malaysian companies the past couple of years reflects the importance of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region,” Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) director of O&G, chemical and energy section Idzham Abdul Hamid said in a statement today.

Idzham said apart from participating in the ADIPEC, MATRADE is also facilitating Malaysian exporters by connecting them with national oil companies (NOCs) in the region.

“We hope that the Malaysian companies will be able to register as vendors for the NOCs and bid for O&G projects in the respective markets,” he said, adding that the companies are encouraged to contact MATRADE offices in Jeddah, Cairo, Doha and Dubai to seek assistance for market access and business expansion in the MENA region.

MATRADE has been organising the participation of Malaysian companies in ADIPEC since 2014.

The Malaysian companies will be showcasing products and services related to the fabrication of O&G process equipment, engineering services, mechanical services, engineering solutions, explosion protection compliance services, health, safety, and environment solutions, as well as pipeline inspection and cleaning services.

In 2022, Malaysia’s total exports to the UAE recorded a significant 45.4 per cent rise to RM15.44 billion versus RM10.62 billion in 2021. Petroleum products exports to the UAE grew by almost four-fold to RM2.41 billion.

Malaysian oil and gas companies have a direct presence there or are involved in projects in most of the Middle Eastern countries, with a concentration in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq and Oman.
