KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- The ‘Hidangan Buah Nadir’ programme will bring viewers up close to the unique characteristics and undiscovered benefits of some lesser-known local fruits.

Published by Stage Master (M) Sdn Bhd, the programme, which was officially launched today, will take viewers on a tour of several locations with the goal of promoting and elevating the country’s cultural heritage, particularly local fruits.

According to Stage Master, the programme is fully supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC), as a platform to share and educate locals and foreign tourists about the country's unique heritage.

“This programme will take you to interesting destinations in Kedah, Terengganu, Kelantan, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, and Sarawak, featuring rare fruits such as melinjau, nipah, kecupu, bambangan, dabai, and jambu golok.

“Each episode will highlight a different rare fruit and provide an explanation of its nutrition and the associated health benefits,” it said in a statement.

The programme will guide the audience from the natural habitat of the rare fruits to the process of preparing a dish with them.

It will also feature Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shahrim Karim, an expert in Malaysian Heritage Food and Culture from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), who will explain each fruit's incredible potential and help viewers better appreciate the bounty of local fruits.

'Hidangan Buah Nadir' will be released in eight episodes, each lasting 20 to 25 minutes and hosted by Akhmal Nazri along with celebrity guests like Datuk Ramli Sarip, Chef Richard from "Richard is Cooking," and Satthiya Candy.

“They will play a significant role as ‘ambassadors’ representing diverse ethnicities in Malaysia to promote our country's rare fruits,” it said, adding that the programme would feature 16 different kinds of rare fruits.
