Kpdn Out To Promote Local Products Abroad

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living hope to carry out initiatives to enhance local products through the local retail industry so as to promote and market local products abroad.

Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Fuziah Salleh said initiatives to strengthen local products through the local retail industry is a collaboration between KPDN and Lulu Hypermarket Malaysia since it started operations in 2016.

Fuziah said the programme was focused on exporting Malaysian products to Lulu Hypermarkets in other countries which will indirectly offer an opportunity for local companies to boost the sales of their products, not only within the country but also in foreign markets.

“One good example is that the LuLu Hypermarket in Malaysia has moved Malaysian products to Lulu Hypermarkets in foreign countries, especially the middle east countries like United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and India,” she said.

She was speaking to reporters after launching a ‘Buy Malaysian Products’ campaign and a collaboration of Export Malaysian Products to Foreign Countries with Lulu Hypermarket Malaysia, here today.

Fuziah said among companies that have succeeded in selling one million units of their product worth RM7.7 million through the association with Lulu Hypermarkets abroad in 2023, was Kawan Food Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Sydney Cake House Sdn Bhd and Syarikat Carepro Marketing Sdn Bhd.

LuLu Group International is made up of 250 Lulu Hypermarkets and LuLu Shopping Malls with a global turnover of US$7.4 billion in 23 countries, including five outlets in Malaysia.
