KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 (Bernama) -- Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandaria graced the closing ceremony of the 40th Anniversary celebration of the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) held in conjunction with the Palestine Charity Night tonight.
Tunku Azizah arrived at the IIUM Cultural Centre at 8.30 pm accompanied by IIUM president Tan Sri Samsudin Osman and IIUM rector Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak.
The Queen, who is also the Constitutional Head of IIUM, witnessed several performances by students and alumni of the university which lasted for an hour, as well as a special performance by Palestinian children from the Jasmine Ash-Sham school.
Her Majesty also witnessed the handing over of RM40,000 in donations by Samsudin to the head of the Palestinian students at the university. The donation will be placed in the IIUM Palestinian Student Fund.
