Build Holistic Society Through Malaysia Madani - Tun Juhar

11/12/2023 01:07 PM

KOTA KINABALU, Dec 11 (Bernama) -- Every family, regardless of ethnicity, religion and culture, should be involved in the holistic development of society, including through the Malaysia MADANI concept, said the Governor of Sabah, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.

He said that all citizens should embrace the Malaysia MADANI concept mooted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, which is universal and transcends religious and racial boundaries.

Tun Juhar, who is also the Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Sabah, added that Malaysia MADANI should also be the main principle in implementing the community development and nation-building agenda.

"Although there are more than 32 ethnic groups in Sabah, we have internalised the values of a diverse family, harmony, openness and togetherness.

"This makes Sabah a state that exemplifies unity and harmony in Malaysian society," he said at the 25th UMS Convocation ceremony at the UMS Chancellor’s Hall today.

In the meantime, Juhar is confident that all graduates who will receive their scrolls will be wise and can take responsibility for the progress of themselves, the religion, the nation and the country.

"I would also like to remind graduates to practise work ethics such as being hardworking and punctual. The presence of graduates in society is a strength because the wisdom of graduates will lead to the progress of the nation and the country.

"Graduates must be sensitive to the current changes, knowledgeable, noble and not easily cowed when faced with challenges. With such integrity and resilience, graduates can transform Malaysia into a developed, reputable and respected nation, Insya-Allah," he said.
