Public Can Share Digital Roadtax Via Myjpj Application From Today - Anthony Loke

SHAH ALAM, Jan 2 (Bernama) -- Motor vehicle owners can now share their digital road tax (e-LKM) using the new function “Kongsi LKM” on the MyJPJ application, announced Transport Minister Anthony Loke today.

He said with the new “Kongsi LKM” function, vehicle owners can share the e-LKM with family members, friends or other individuals with permission to drive the vehicle.

"The vehicle owners only need to click on the license plate number of the vehicle concerned and then click the 'Share LKM' button to share e-LKM with other individuals.

"This function also has a sharing time limit that can be set by the vehicle owner and has an activation code that needs to be given to the recipient of the e-LKM to activate the sharing.

“The system will also delete the sharing record automatically if it is not activated within 24 hours," he told a press conference after visiting the Selangor Road Transport Department (JPJ) office here today.

According to Loke, the new function in the MyJPJ application was installed to solve the problems facing those driving borrowed vehicles.

“Prior to this, the public is allowed to print the e-LKM, but considering the various issues that arose,  improvements were made to make it easier for users," he said.

Loke said the ministry would also introduce security papers to replace vehicle license stickers and physical driving licences (LMM).

"Based on findings of studies and statistical analysis conducted in  2023, JPJ found that there is an increase in the number of drivers and vehicle owners who choose digitalisation,  involving 7.5 million users.

“However, those who are still not ready, can still choose physical LKM and LMM during the interim digitalisation period in 2024 and during this period, JPJ Malaysia will issue physical LKM and LMM in a new and standardised form in the form of security paper only,” he added.

He said the new LKM does not need to be affixed or displayed on the vehicle mirror as required by Section 20(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 198.
