Almost Upgraded Gadek Hot Spring Complex Set To Open Mid-april - Ab Rauf

ALOR GAJAH, Feb 1 (Bernama) -- The project to upgrade the Gadek Hot Spring Complex, with a tourism concept, to a Wellness and Health Spa Resort is five per cent to completion and is expected to be fully completed on Feb 20.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the project, costing RM18.5 million, on an area of ​​10,268 acres (4,155 hectares) will be opened to the public in mid-April, after Hari Raya Aidilfitri, with the rates to be determined once everything is completed.

"The project's progress is according to the set schedule and the contractor is doing the finishing touches. Only five per cent (of upgrading work) remains," he said at a press conference after visiting the project site here today.

He said the development of the project based on natural heated water that has existed for hundreds of years with a temperature between 42 and 56 degrees Celsius can serve as an attraction for health-based tourism products.

"The public can use the hot springs there as therapy because the hot water bath is from a natural source with sulfur content that is good for health. When it (hot springs) opens later with its modern and comfortable facilities, it will be able to attract more visitors and tourists, with an estimated over 400 people staying here at any one time," he said.

Ab Rauf also said at the same time, the opening of the Gadek Hot Spring Complex will further boost the local economy, especially during the ongoing Visit Melaka Year 2024 celebration.

The project which commenced on Aug 11, 2021 includes 20 hotel rooms, eight chalets, a family spa, a hall which can accomodate 500 people, two hot water pools as well as a surau.
