Petronas' Uplifting Lives Programme Spreads Festive Joy To Labuan Recipients

LABUAN, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- Petronas marked the joyous occasion of Chinese New Year by extending its Uplifting Lives programme to recipients in Labuan today.

The initiative, led by Yayasan Petronas, its social impact arm, was launched during a celebratory event at Tiara Hotel, attended by Labuan Member of Parliament, Datuk Dr. Suhaili Abdul Rahman.

The highlight of the event was the distribution of food packages and festive hampers, personally presented by Dr Suhaili to five selected individuals out of the 50 chosen recipients.

The Labuan Social Welfare Department (JKM), which selected the eligible recipients, was responsible for distributing the remaining items to the rest of the recipients. 

Head of Petronas Sabah and Labuan Regional Office, Siti Ayu Abdul Wahab said the Uplifting Lives programme is an annual endeavour by Yayasan Petronas, that aligns with major celebrations in Malaysia, including Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Kaamatan, Gawai, Deepavali, and Christmas

She said in conjunction with Chinese New Year this year, Yayasan Petronas aims to distribute a total of 2,150 food packages nationwide, including 100 in Sabah and 50 in Labuan. 

The objective is to spread joy and alleviate the burdens faced by needy communities during these festive occasions.

Also present at the event were JKM director Rodin Suri Arif and Petronas Chemicals Methanol Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Hiffani M Jalil, underscoring the collective efforts of diverse stakeholders that contributed to the program's meaningful and impactful outcomes.
