SINGAPORE, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- Global Turbine Asia (GTA) has signed a three-year contract with the government of Malaysia worth RM150 million for the support to its fleet of TP400-D6 engine used in the A400M airlifter, said GTA executive chairman Datuk Nonee Ashirin Mohd Radzi.

The signing which took place on the sidelines of the Singapore Airshow 2024 at the Malaysia Pavilion today has solidified the company as the reference maintenance, repair and overhaul centre in Malaysia for helicopters and military turbines.

A Malaysian-born joint venture with Safran Helicopter Engines, GTA has been selected by Europrop International Gmbh (EPI) to be part of the support of the TP400 engine which is dubbed the most advanced airlifter of the 21st century.

EPI is a joint company formed by the four leading European aero engine companies - Industria de Turbo Propulsores, MTU Aero Engines, Rolls-Royce and Snecma.

“GTA have pioneered the path for the industrial and talent growth in Malaysia, showing the way to bring to the country cutting edge innovation and capabilities that will be of tremendous value to the future of the nation,” said Nonee Ashirin.

“At the Global Group of Companies we are proud to be recognised as a key contributor to the country’s strategic industrial landscape as well as being a reference for the sustainability of the future of aviation,” she added.

According to her, Global Group of Companies covers not only engines but other areas of aerospace and defence like components, electrical systems, avionics, security and IT solutions

GTA said in a press statement that during its 14 years of existence, it has specialised in the highly skilled and demanding requirements of the aerospace industry through its strategic partnerships with some of the leading engine manufacturers such as Safran.

The contract now signed, GTA said, brings the culmination of the partnership with EPI and strengthens the foundation that GTA has been building towards becoming a homegrown Malaysian solution to the maintenance of state-of-the-art turboprop engines, with the medium-term ambition to also be a key player in the region.

GTA and the Global Group are looking to also continue accelerating the growth of the industry as a whole by creating more avenues with economic spillover through maximising the return of investment in the expanding acquisition cycle that the country has now embarked on, said the statement.

Besides GTA’s, there were two other contracts signed involving its sister companies.
