Bernama Bags Four Wins At 2023 Perak Media Awards

IPOH, Feb 24 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Organisation (BERNAMA) won four awards at the Perak Media Awards 2023 held at the Perak Darul Riduzan Building here tonight.

Part-time journalist Muhamad Azhar Tajuddin won first place in the Best News Award category with the title 'Penjaga Jam Menara Condong Galas Amanah Pastikan Ikon Sejarah Terus Berdenting' and took home a cash prize of RM1,500.

Another part-time journalist, Razif Rosli, won first place in the Best Sports News Award category with his article titled 'Program Akar Umbi JPN Perak - Perak FC: Misi Bola Sepak Negara Dikuasai Anak Tempatan', also taking home RM1,500.

The prizes were presented by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

Photographer Mohd Zulfadhli Zulkarnain, meanwhile, took second place in the Best Photo Award category with theme 'MB Bersama Rakyat' while journalist Mohamad Harith Mohamad Nizar won third place in the Best Audio/Visual Award category for his article 'Bergadai Nyawa Demi Kelangangan Raja Rimba'.

Mohd Zulfadhli and Mohamad Harith took home cash prizes of RM1,000 and RM500 respectively.

Earlier, Saarani in his speech said it was the first time the state government had given recognition to the hard work and dedication of journalists, photographers, and everyone involved in the media industry in Perak in delivering quality news and information to the community.

"I was informed by the organisers that the response received from Perak media practitioners was very encouraging, with more than 90 entries received involving six categories.

"God willing, if all goes well, we will continue organising the event in the years to come,” he said.

A total of six categories were contested including the Best Article Award and Best Economic News Award with the winners of each category receiving RM1,500 for first place, second (RM1,000) and third (RM500).
