BARCELONA, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CTM360 W.L.L, a prominent cybersecurity firm specialising in managing threats across the surface, deep, and dark web, to combatting cyber threats in Malaysia besides sharing threat intelligence.

The MoU was signed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CSM Datuk Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab and CTM360 CEO Mirza Asrar Baig witnessed by Malaysia's Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2024 in Fira Gran Via here on Monday.

The partnership aims to create a framework for cooperation in cybersecurity, solidifying a strategic partnership focused on long-term collaboration, particularly in fostering public-private partnerships.

This collaboration underscores a joint commitment to combatting evolving cyber adversaries by leveraging the expertise, resources and innovative capabilities of both organisations.

The MoU outlines key objectives including the exchange of cyber security information, promoting bilateral cooperation, knowledge sharing through specialist engagements, joint trainings, seminars and undertaking mutually beneficial actions.

On the collaboration, Amiruddin said the collaboration exemplifies both parties shared determination to outsmart the ever-changing landscape of online risks, pooling expertise to bolster Malaysia's cyber defences.

“CTM360 plays an important role since they specialise in managing and responding to risks on the surface, deep, and dark web.

“Their experience would be useful in identifying and mitigating possible threats to Malaysia's digital ecosystem,” he told Bernama after the signing ceremony.

According to the agreement, five key areas of collaboration are aimed at reducing cyber threats including establishing a shared platform to offer expertise, developing a risk-based maturity model aligned with national cybersecurity, implementing capacity-building programmes, facilitating the exchange of cybersecurity information and initiating joint projects to advance national cybersecurity.

Earlier, Fahmi officiated the Malaysian Pavilion at the MWC 2024, the largest annual gathering in the telecommunications industry hosted by the Groupe Speciale Mobile Association (GSMA).

The four-day MWC 2024 kicks off today and is expected to convene over 100,000 telecommunications industry players.
