200 Students In Tambun Parliamentary Constituency Get 'back To School' Assistance

IPOH, Feb 27 (Bernama) -- A total of 200 primary and secondary students in the Tambun parliamentary constituency received donations for school supplies via the 'Back to School' programme at the Tambun Parliamentary Community Service Centre today.

Mohamad Hairul Amir Sabri, chief special officer to the Tambun member of parliament, said the programme is aimed at easing the financial burden of parents in making preparations for their children to commence the school session in March.

He said his team is thankful to Puncak Emas Infra Sdn Bhd (PEISB) for also donating to students in preparation for the school session as this is the second year of the collaboration.

"Apart from that, we also have received the cooperation of Pasaraya Borong Sakan including Lembaga Tabung Haji which is also participating in this programme, and all the families involved were offered the opportunity to open Tabung Haji accounts for the whole family," he said at a press conference here today.

According to Mohamad Hairul Amir. this programme is also seen as an added value to the Early Schooling Aid (BAP) implemented by the government recently.

Mohamad Hairul Amir said for each family, especially low-income families. that was helped, their children will be provided with a set of uniforms, shoes and a school bag, including other school equipment.

Earlier in a symbolic gesture, PEISB general manager Saiful Azzuan Aznam presented a mock cheque for the donation to one of the recipients.

Meanwhile, Saiful Azzuan said his team was called to channel aid in line with his company's goal of helping the community in the Tambun parliamentary constituency, in addition to believing in the importance of giving back (to the community) and forming a closer relationship with the community.

"PEISB wants to ensure that these children get quality education inclusively and fairly, and it (PEISB) wants to promote learning opportunities for all citizens,” he said.

"We hope that through this programme, children will be motivated to take their first steps into the school environment."
