Mud Challenge Among New Elements To Be Introduced At Perlis' Pat 24

KANGAR, Feb 27 (Bernama) --  The Mud Extreme Obstacle Challenge is among the new highlights introduced in the East Wind Festival Perlis 2024 (PAT 2024), which will take place from March 1-3 in Kampung Lat Seribu, Tambun Tulang near Arau.

Perlis National Culture and Arts Department (JKKN) director Norazlin Nordin said they had also received international participation for the mud challenge at the upcoming festival.

"There will be about eight to ten obstacles for the participants to face," she said during the 'Apa Khabar Malaysia' talk show aired on BERNAMA TV today.

Norazlin said the activity of making Perlis ‘garam belacan’ (shrimp paste) with 1,000 participants from various ethnicities in Perlis would also be attempted to be recorded in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) during PAT 2024.

"Furthermore, we have close cooperation from the 15 state constituencies (DUN) in Perlis coordinated by the Arau Parliamentary Office, where, as I mentioned earlier, we will have a ‘kenduri rakyat’ with the cooperation of these 15 DUNs," she added.

"They will collaborate to prepare Perlis-style ‘asam pedas’ dishes to be served to the audience on March 3, the final day of the programme," she said, also informing that PAT 2024 was the 12th edition of the festival organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture in collaboration with the Perlis State Government.

She said that the Rahmah Sale and Agro MADANI Sale at PAT 2024 were also among the new elements introduced in this edition of the festival, alongside activities such as hot air balloon rides, paramotor shows, as well as kayak and motorized hang glider competitions.

According to Norazlin, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing was expected to attend the PAT 2024 opening ceremony together with Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli on March 2.
