KOTA KINABALU, April 22 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) will launch the Jom Jelajah Koperasi (JEJAK) programme in May to stimulate cooperative businesses in the hospitality, health care, and handicraft industries by promoting its products and services.

Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the Cooperative Commission of Malaysia (SKM) has proposed providing incentives to cooperatives involved in the relevant industries.

“This JEJAK incentive is expected to support the involvement of cooperatives in the domestic tourism industry and also as a preparation for Visit Malaysia Year 2026,” he said at the opening ceremony of SKM’s office for the North West Coast Region here today.

SKM chairman Lt Gen (rtd) Datuk Ahmad Norihan Jalal and SKM chief executive officer Rusli Jaafar were also present.

Ewon said the ministry also agreed to allocate RM2 million to implement the MADANI Cooperative Sales (JMK) programme throughout the country, including in Sabah and Sarawak.

He said the allocation could stabilise the price of necessities offered with savings of up to 20 per cent.

“This is one of the government’s initiatives to help the community in dealing with the increase in price of goods,” he said, adding that the JMK programme also increased sales of cooperative stores by 45 per cent.
