24/04/2024 06:06 PM

IPOH, April 23 (Bernama) -- Amirulfaris was a kind soul, and as they say, the good ones often die too soon, says Md Akhir Jamaludin, 55, reflecting on his nephew, Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Amirulfaris Mohamad Marzukhi, 34, one of the 10 victims of two helicopters that crashed near the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) base in Lumut, this morning.

Md Akhir said as the eldest of four siblings, Mohamad Amirulfaris took great care of his parents and was very good to his relatives.

“The last time we met was last year, and even this year’s Aidilfitri, we couldn't meet because he was on duty, but he mentioned he would join the air show (in conjunction with the 90th Anniversary of TLDM),” he said, speaking in the forensic department compound of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, here, tonight.

He said that Mohamad Amirulfaris is survived by his wife and two children, aged seven and two.

Md Akhir, who hails from Negeri Sembilan, said that his nephew had been stationed in Sabah for two years, due to his promotion.

“He was still young, in fact, all those who died were under 40 years old, they still had a long service ahead for the country, but Allah loves them more,” he said.

He added that the deceased would be buried in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan, once the post-mortem is completed.

He said that all the deceased's family members had been flown from Sabah to Perak for the identification of the remains.
