JAKARTA, May 10 (Bernama) -- The Indonesian Ministry of Industry recently organised a business forum on the medical device sector in Istanbul, Turkiye, aimed at strengthening ties between industry players from both countries.

The event, which targeted the European and Middle Eastern markets, sought to bolster cooperation in various areas, including distribution, research and development, and investment, according to the ministry.

The initiative also featured memorandum of understanding exchanges that include a distributor agreement between PT Haloni Jane Tbk and ERK Medikal Saglik Hizmetleri for latex gloves supply, worth US$9 million (US$1=RM4.73).

PT Atra Widiya Agung and Uzman Sterilisation System forged an agreement to collaborate on the distribution of container systems and fabrication in Indonesia from 2024 to 2027, with a value of US$1.5 million.

“Our aim is to boost exports for the local medical device sector,” the ministry’s machinery industry director Yan Sibarang Tandiele said in a statement.

He also emphasised that Indonesia’s metal, machinery, transportation equipment, and electronics industry is currently growing at a rate of 12.09 per cent.

Currently, the Indonesian Medical Device Manufacturers Association consists of 209 companies producing items like ventilators, hospital furniture, and medical apparel.
