KUALA LUMPUR, May 13 (Bernama) – Young award-winning singer Aina Abdul showcased her powerful vocals for over two hours during a concert at the Petronas Philharmonic Hall (DFP) here recently, enchanting the audience with her golden voice.

Her performance was enhanced by the captivating musical accompaniment of 60 musicians from the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) under the direction of conductor Ahmad Muriz Che Rose, once again proving that this prestigious stage is in a league of its own.

Kicking off her show with songs from her debut album titled “Imaji”, Aina’s mellifluous voice mesmerised the audience.

Donning an exquisitely dazzling outfit designed by Melinda Looi, her appearance certainly did not fail to catch the eyes of her audience.

“Am I blinding you too much?” joked Aina who was greeted by cheers and thunderous applause from her fans.

The energy in the hall soared several notches higher when Aina, a three-time winner of the Best Vocal Award at the annual “Anugerah Juara Lagu”, delivered her hit songs "Sumpah", "Kejam" and "Kelip-kelip".

In between her renditions, the popular singer, whose real name is Nurul Aina Abdul Ghani, also shared her journey of becoming a singer with the audience.

“Since young, I’ve always dreamed of becoming a singer. I used to buy the CDs of many artistes and learn from their singing styles.

“I also attended vocal classes to polish the gift Allah gave me. After that, I secured second place in Mentor Legend (a reality programme). But, it still wasn’t enough for me. From there, I started writing songs. Songwriting allows me to express all the feelings I’ve in my head,” she said.

It was this Johor-born artiste’s first performance at DFP and it was clear she had the skill to engage with her audience. Not only that, her humble demeanour endeared her to her fans.

At the concert, Aina also performed “Bilang”, “Sesal”, “Sepi”, “Semalam”, “Dawai”, “Kamu”, “Puas Sudah”, “Terus Hidup” and “Fool”, with her audience singing along with her.

Her rendition of “Shadow”, which she dedicated to her former manager Manisha Jagan who passed away last year, stirred the emotions of her audience.

“She (Manisha) was very special in my life. When I first started in this industry, it wasn’t an easy journey because I was confused about whether to sing in Malay or English. She helped me and gave me her full support to just release any song,” she said, expressing her gratitude to Manisha, who served as her manager from 2014 to 2017.

Aina’s vocal prowess was evident when she performed a medley of English songs including “At Last”, “You Make Me Feel”, “Hero”, “When You Believe”, “I Surrender” and “Listen”, earning her a standing ovation from the audience. She closed her performance with “Jangan Mati Rasa Itu”.

About 1,840 people, including artistes Anuar Zain and Ziana Zain, turned up at DFP to watch Aina’s performance.
