KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended contributions to students affected by a fire incident at the ground floor of Block B, Pauh Putra Residential Complex, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), last Saturday.

In a post on Facebook, Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the aid was presented by his political secretary Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim yesterday.

“I pray that all those involved be granted strength to face this ordeal and the government, through the Higher Education Ministry, will provide appropriate assistance, insya-Allah,” he said.

On May 11, media reported that 26 motorcycles were destroyed and 10 others sustained minor damages after the male hostel parking area at UniMAP caught fire in the early morning.

Arau district police chief Supt Ahmad Mohsin Md Rodi said they received information about the incident at 4.43 am.

Yesterday, Pauh Putra Residential Complex head Mohd Syamril Aklmar Chek Kassim expressed gratitude for the concern shown by the prime minister, who extended cash aid to 36 students after the fire damaged their motorcycles.
