KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 (Bernama) -- Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) continued with their winning ways by thrashing Kuala Lumpur City (KL City) FC 5-1 in their Super League match at the Cheras Football Stadium here today.

In the match, which was halted for four minutes in the 33rd minute due to lightning, JDT shot ahead with a Fernando Martin Forestieri header in the 42nd minute, which referee Muhammad Nazmi Nasaruddin had to consult with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to ensure there was no offside.

The match took an interesting twist in injury time when both teams found the net in quick succession, with the Southern Tigers doubling their lead through a Juan Muniz Gallego free-kick attempt before the City boys reduced the deficit through skipper Paulo Josue four minutes later, also off a free-kick.

After the break, it was all JDT as they found the net three more times, with Forestieri heading home his second goal in the 61st minute; Muniz Gallego finding the back of the net in the 71st minute; and Muhammad Syahmi Safari wrapping up the scoring just two minutes before the end.

The win sees the Southern Tigers stay atop the standings with nine points after three matches while KL City remain in 10th spot with a point.

Over at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah FC thrived on home ground as they edged Kuching City FC 2-1.

But it was Kuching City who drew first blood in the 64th minute through Pedro Henrique before Sabah equalised through a Darren Lok penalty in the 75th minute.

Jefri Chew then netted the winner for Sabah in the 84th minute.

Penang FC, meanwhile, held PDRM FC to a 1-1 draw in another Super League match at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium.

Home side PDRM, coached by P. Maniam, broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute through Ifedayo Olusegun.

Although Penang had a goal by skipper Rafael Vitor chalked off by VAR for offside, Rodrigo Dias restored parity when he slotted home a cross from Muhammad Adib Abdul Ra’op in the 52nd minute.
