Jknk Orders Five Eateries In Tanah Merah To Be Closed For 14 Days

TANAH MERAH, May 27 (Bernama)  -- Five eateries in Tanah Merah were ordered closed for 14 days due to unhygienic conditions.

Kelantan Health director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said five eateries in Tanah Merah had been ordered to close for 14 days under Section 11 of the Food Act 1983.

"The premises did not meet the required hygiene and cleanliness level. This was discovered in an operation to check on eateries around Tanah Merah by the Kelantan Health Department (JKNK) as these eateries were popular among the people.

"The operation this time involved checks on 58 restaurants and eateries by 80 JKNK officers," he said in a statement today.

Dr Zaini added that 99 notices were issued under Section 32B to owners of premises and food handlers to appear in court for various offences and for violating the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.

He added that 97 notices issued under Section 3B were related to the failure to display registration certificates, failure to comply with general duties, hygiene of those preparing food, health condition of staff, cleanliness of premises.
