YOUNG PILGRIMS MAKE HOLY LAND "GOLDMINE" FOR REWARDS

MAKKAH, May 28 (Bernama) -- Most young couples prefer honeymoon destinations with picturesque views such as the city of love, Paris, or Venice, but Muhammad Rabbani Roslan and his wife, Nur Izzati Thafiqah Samsol Bahari opt for the Holy Land to perform their haj pilgrimage together.

The couple, who were married in September last year, chose to go to the Holy Land for their first destination as a married couple.

"I registered for Haj in 2008. My savings in my Tabung Haji is contributed by mother from her salary deduction and also my Raya money.

“I received the first offer to perform the Haj during the COVID-19 pandemic, and then in 2022, but I requested a postponement because of the marriage preparation. Alhamdulillah because of that, I am lucky to be able to come to the Holy Land with my husband following an appeal,” said the 25-year-old wife, an engineering student at Universiti Putra Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Rabbani, 27, said he had been saving in Tabung Haji since he was a child.

“I also used some of the savings for the wedding expenses and was worried that I did not have enough to perform the Haj. But, with God’s will,  there was enough money and can come with my wife,” said the information technology engineer at a government department.

As a young couple, it may be a challenge for Muhammad Rabbani and his wife to persevere in worship, especially after their return from the Haj pilgrimage.

"People say that in terms of age and physical, young people have no problem performing the Haj. For me, young people also need to take care of their health and being young, we can also help others,” he said.

Meanwhile, brothers Muhammad Adam Aiman, 21, Mohd Edrisn Al-Fateh, 17, and Muhammad Nouh Ebdansyakur, 15,  from Kelantan, are grateful for being able to become “Duyufurrahman” (Guests of Allah) at a young age.

They always look cheerful and ready to assist older folks, especially those in wheelchairs, to go to the mosque.

"Mama and Papa advise us always to help the elderly during the Haj pilgrimage," said Muhammad Adam, a Universiti Malaysia Pahang student.

Muhammad Adam said because of the advice from their parents, he and his younger siblings chose to join the “Sahabat Maktab”, a volunteering initiative by Tabung Haji to assist Malaysian pilgrims during the haj.
