Thaifex-anuga Asia 2024: Malaysia Emerges As Third Largest Exhibitor

BANGKOK, May 29 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has emerged as the third largest exhibitor at THAIFEX-Anuga Asia 2024, Asia’s most extensive and comprehensive food and beverage (F&B) trade show, featuring participants from over 50 countries.

THAIFEX-Anuga Asia 2024 has attracted 3,000 participating companies, showcasing their products across 6,000 booths.

Malaysia’s ambassador to Thailand, Datuk Jojie Samuel, noted a significant increase in the number of Malaysian participants, from 103 exhibitors last year to 141 this year.

"It is a milestone for them (Malaysian exhibitors), and I hope they will be able to capture not only Thailand's market but also penetrate other global markets as well," he told Bernama after officiating Malaysia's pavilion.

Samuel also expressed hope that more Malaysian companies, especially those from the F&B sector, will take the opportunity to expand their market presence globally by participating in trade fairs.

He said that based on his experience, Malaysian products such as confectionery and ready-to-eat food and beverages are still in demand here despite Thailand having its own products.

"We can penetrate their (Thailand's) market partly because of our unique taste, attractive packaging, and most importantly, competitive prices," he added.

He mentioned that the Embassy of Malaysia in Thailand is ready to assist any Malaysian companies planning to expand their business in Thailand through the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, and the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.

Meanwhile, MATRADE Bangkok trade commissioner, Mohamed Hafiz Md Shariff, said the involvement of MATRADE, in collaboration with the Malaysia Business Group, further strengthens the presence and influence of Malaysian companies at the event.

"This strategic partnership likely offers better support and visibility for new and returning companies, enhancing Malaysia's overall impact at THAIFEX,” he said.

He added that participating in such events provides MATRADE and the exhibitors with a valuable opportunity to showcase Malaysian products and services to the Thai market and international attendees.

"It also serves as an excellent platform to promote other significant trade events like MIHAS 2024 and the Malaysia-China Summit 2024. By leveraging these platforms, MATRADE can effectively highlight Malaysia's trade capabilities and foster economic ties with Thailand and other global markets," he said.

THAIFEX-Anuga Asia is an annual trade event organised by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) in collaboration with the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Koelnmesse, one of the world's largest trade fair companies.
