KUALA LUMPUR, June 1 (Bernama) -- Malaysia made a clean sweep in the fourth leg of the Hong Kong Squash Professional Squash Association (PSA) Challenge Cup 2024, as both young players Joachim Chuah (men’s) and Sehveetrraa Kumar (women’s) were crowned as champions in their respective categories today.
The tournament held at the Kowloon Cricket Club saw the unseeded Joachim, 19, stunning seventh seed Harley Lam of Hong Kong,11-6, 11-6, 11-4.
Sehveetrraa, on the other hand, downed Hong Kong’s Ching Hei Fung, 11-7, 11-4, 11-3, to take home the women’s title.
The Kedahan, who will turn 19 this Monday, was truly delighted to clinch her second title after winning the Bondi Open 2023 in Sydney last November.
“I think my game plan made my opponent to do a lot of mistakes so I had a bit of advantage there,” she said in a statement shared by Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia to the media today.
Joachim and Sehveetrraa each pocketed US$6,000 (approximately RM28,242) in prize money.
