Chicken Rice Shop To Expand Business In Small Towns

KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 (Bernama) -- Local food and beverage company TCRS Restaurants Sdn Bhd is planning to expand its footprint in small towns, focusing on opening several new outlets by year-end due to high demand.

TCRS Restaurants Sdn Bhd is the operator of The Chicken Rice Shop chain of restaurants.

Chief executive officer Wong Kah Yong said the company currently operates 11 shoplot outlets in small towns.

He said a new outlet will open in Tanah Merah, Kelantan, within two to three weeks.

“For this year, we have a strong (expansion) pipeline. In the last three years, we have gone into many smaller towns that might not have shoplots and malls.

“Currently, we have 147 outlets, and one just opened in Masai, Johor, last week in a shopping mall,” he told Bernama on the sidelines of TCRS’s 24th Anniversary celebration here today.

Wong said new outlets were also opened in Pahang, Perak and Johor.

“There are new locations at Jerantut and Temerloh, Pahang; Tanjung Malim, Perak; and Pontian, Johor. We have demand from customers who stay in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Penang asking for chicken rice when they return to their hometown or kampung,” he said.

Wong said that TCRS is also expanding overseas and is looking for new locations.

He said the expansion will also provide an opportunity to promote Malaysian cuisine.

“Recently, we opened in Jakarta, Indonesia, and are still looking for other locations (for new outlets),” he added.

Meanwhile, TCRS has launched its new ‘Chicken Chup!’ chicken chop dish in conjunction with its 24th anniversary. The new offering will be available in stores nationwide from June 10 until August 11, 2024.
