PHANG NGA, June 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysian travel agencies are exploring new tourism experience products in Thailand, during the Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2024.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Marketing Manager for Malaysia and Brunei, Richard Lim said Thailand is a country where all Malaysians would love to travel to due to its food, attractions and new experiences.

"TTM+ this year has 430 quality sellers from across Thailand and it is suitable for all global buyers, especially from Malaysia who always love to visit the Kingdom.

"Thailand is Malaysians' number one favourite destination, and Malaysian travel agencies should take this opportunity to explore new opportunities, especially new attractions, food, and destinations," he told Bernama.

Lim said this year, four Malaysian travel agencies participated in the TTM+ with two from Kuala Lumpur and one each from Sabah and Melaka.

"Thailand has a lot of accessibility from Malaysia, including 41 direct daily flights and eight land borders. It has become a weekend getaway for many Malaysians," he said.

TTM+ is Thailand's leading annual business-to-business (B2B) travel industry event, which aims to provide a platform for travel businesses to connect and do business.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of Travel Forte Sdn Bhd, Daniel Leow from Kuala Lumpur said he has participated in TTM+ since 2012 and it always offers him good bargains for tourism products in Thailand.

"Thailand never fails to amaze me, and I always come back for more. This year, I'm looking for new products, especially in luxury accommodation and attractions for my high-end customers," he said.

He added that annually, his company spends no less than RM1 million, not including food and sightseeing packages, to purchase accommodation in Thailand to offer Malaysians.

"Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we will bring about 12,000 Malaysians to travel to Thailand, including places like Hat Yai, Phatthalung, Trang, Bangkok, Kanchanaburi, Ayutthaya, Khao Yai, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Lampang," he said.

According to data from the Tourism Economics Division of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, a total of 1.7 million Malaysians visited Thailand from Jan 1 to May 12, 2024.
