PASIR PUTEH, June 9 (Bernama) -- Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) has donated a Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) 2.0 unit to the widow of former Kelantan football player, Wan Ezila Wan Daud, in Kampung Gong Datuk, here, today.

Its chairman Datuk Husam Musa said that the donation of the house, worth RM68,000, was a show of appreciation for Wan Ezila’s contribution in the national football arena.

“The deceased’s widow does not have a home of her own and is now staying at her parents' house, where other siblings also live, in addition to having no source of regular income and only working as a babysitter to cover living expenses.

“To show our appreciation for the services and contributions of the deceased, and concern for the difficulties faced by his widow, SPNB, through the Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, donated RM48,000, with RM20,000 in government subsidies, to build the house,” he told reporters, after handing over the RMR 2.0 offer letter to Wan Ezila’s widow, Suhaini Muhamad Asri, here, today.

Husam said since RMR was introduced in 2002 until May 2024, SPNB has successfully built 10,349 RMR units in Kelantan, and 65,617 units nationwide.

According to him, SPNB has always committed to ensure that housing projects for citizens under the purview of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government are given priority, in empowering the housing agenda and the well-being of all Malaysians through the framework of Malaysia MADANI.

He added that SPNB is now also focusing CSR on the development of green technology, to preserve the environment and benefit the local community, including the construction of greenhouses and hydroponic programmes.

“SPNB is also considering conducting a CSR programme to provide solar electricity in the interior of Sabah and Sarawak,” he said.

Meanwhile, Suhaini expressed her gratitude for the contribution, and said that she will return to live in the village once the house is completed.

She said after her husband’s passing in January this year, she and her two children, aged nine and 15, moved and stayed at a relative’s house in Kuala Lumpur.
