SERDANG, June 10 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2024, scheduled for this September, will feature interactive exhibits in the food security sector aimed at attracting youth participation.

MAHA 2024 will take place at the Malaysian Agriculture Expo Park Serdang (MAEPS) here from September 11 to 22 with the theme "Menuai Harapan Membina Masa Hadapan". It is eagerly anticipated by all layers of society for showcasing the latest technology in the agriculture sector and the nation’s food security.

MAHA 2024 Secretariat head, Zurihanmi Zakariya said that approximately 60% of the preparations have been completed to ensure that MAHA 2024 achieves the set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

This time, MAHA 2024 introduces new segments to attract visitors, especially the youth, including ‘Magical at Night and 3D Water Show’ and 'Kid Attraction'.

“We are also finalising the participation of famous local cartoon characters to be featured throughout the event,” he told reporters after the launching ceremony of MAHA 2024 by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, here today.

Mohamad today set KPIs for MAHA 2024, targeting around RM6 billion in Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and RM40 million in direct sales.

The target also includes attracting three million visitors, considering that MAHA 2024 will be held during the school holidays.

Zurihanmi added that the focus is also on MAHA Go Global as this exhibition provides opportunities for more than 180 international companies related to agricultural technology to participate and share their expertise.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) is currently enhancing promotional activities for MAHA 2024 to target groups, including through events such as the MAHA Fun Run 2024 yesterday, which saw the participation of over 1,000 people.

In conjunction with the launch of MAHA 2024, the One-Year Celebration Carnival for the Agro MADANI Sales Programme and the Mini Rhythm of the Farmers were also held at MAEPS yesterday.

Previously, MAHA 2022 recorded over one million visitors, with 33 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and Memorandums of Agreement (MoAs) worth RM5.64 billion signed.
