KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended a donation to Astro Arena news anchor Akbar Sahari, who is currently grappling with his wife’s health issues.
The donation was presented by the prime minister’s political secretary Ahmad Farhan Fauzi who went to visit Akbar and his wife Noorsuzilawati Noor, who is battling stage four colon cancer, at a hospital here yesterday.
“I pray for Akbar and his family to remain patient during this trial and for his wife to be granted the strength to fight this illness, insya-Allah,” he said in a post on Facebook today.
Anwar also hoped that the contribution would help alleviate Akbar’s financial burden.
Meanwhile, in a post on his Facebook account, Akbar thanked the prime minister for the contribution and admitted being surprised by the visit from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) delegation led by Ahmad Farhan.
Also present were the prime minister’s press secretary Tunku Nashrul Tunku Abaidah and Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM) Exco members Hafizal Hamad and Izhar Atan.
“Farhan presented the prime minister’s donation, which would help ease our financial burden. The prayers and words of encouragement from Farhan and the PMO delegation are greatly appreciated,” he said.
