HANOI, June 14 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Vietnam exported 11,176 tonnes of cinnamon valued at US$31.1 million in May, marking a 75 per cent increase in volume and 63 per cent rise in value compared to the previous month, reported Xinhua quoting a Vietnam News story.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, cinnamon exports to China surged by 513.6 per cent in May. India, Bangladesh, and the US were highlighted as the top three export markets for Vietnamese cinnamon, said the report.

Hoang Thi Lien, president of the association, attributed the growth to ongoing advancements in farming techniques by Vietnamese farmers aimed at enhancing cinnamon tree quality and productivity.

Additionally, numerous companies in Vietnam have invested in modern processing lines to produce higher-quality cinnamon products that meet market demand.

The sector seeks a long-term strategy of turning Vietnam into the leading sustainable cinnamon supplier in the world.

The country's cinnamon export industry is expected to continue to grow vigorously, helping improve the value of Vietnamese agricultural products and raising farmers' income, local media reported.
