KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 (Bernama) -- A Brahman bull weighing 1,040 kg steals the show at the Qurban carnival due to its massive size, equivalent to six regular-sized cows.

According to Tayyib Ranch Sdn Bhd spokesperson Mohd Sakhedan Sidek, the bull, nicknamed 'Abu' has been sold for RM30,000 to a buyer from Ampang, to be sacrificed during the Aidiladha celebration next Monday.

He said visitors to the carnival, which is being held in Dengkil near the Bukit Dugang Orang Asli village until June 17, can also feed the cattle on display.

"It will be a great opportunity for children, who will surely be amazed by these 'lembu sado' rarely found elsewhere," he told Bernama here today.

He said 250 'lembu sado' of various breeds, including Angus, Charolais, Limousin, Piedmontese and Brahman, have been sold since the carnival kicked off on Tuesday.

"The Brahman breed of cattle has seen high demand for this year's sacrificial rites. 'Lembu sado' is still the preferred choice for some Muslims because of their large size and their tastier, more tender and flavourful meat compared to regular-sized local cattle," he said.

Mohd Sakhedan said the prices of these giant cattle range from RM12,000 to RM30,000 each, depending on their size.

"Our cattle are raised in an ideal environment and fed with pellets, soy pellets, corn, white pollard and Napier grass to produce high-quality meat," he said.

Besides the Brahman cattle, he said a Charolais breed bull weighing 1,174 kg priced at between RM30,000 and RM35,000 is also on display.

"This bull has not been purchased by anyone so far," he said, adding that the company has also donated beef to nearby mosques and surau to be distributed to Muslims.
