STEINBRUCKNER UNHAPPY WITH TURTLES' PERFORMANCE

15/06/2024 10:52 AM

KUALA NERUS, June 15 (Bernama) -- Terengganu FC (TFC) head coach Tomislav Steinbruckner admitted that he was not satisfied with his team's style of play when they faced Perak FC in the FA Cup clash at home last night.

Although they managed to advance to the quarter-finals, Steinbruckner said he was still disappointed with the quality of play displayed by his players, especially in the second half.

Moreover, he said that the players failed to capitalise on opportunities to score more goals when Perak FC had to play with only 10 men after their defender, Muhammad Firdaus Saiyadi, was shown the red card by the referee.

"The first 30 minutes we clearly had zero attempts on target. After the penalty, we started to play better. We created enough chances to score more goals in the second half after the red card, but we did'nt.

"I was angry because it was really important to win this match to go to the next round. We achieved that, but I expected a better game from my players," he said after the round of 16 FA Cup match against Perak FC at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium (SSMZA) here.

The Turtles managed to advance to the FA Cup quarter-finals after narrowly winning 2-1 against The Bos Gaurus with goals from Muhammad Safawi Rasid and Marin Pilj.

Meanwhile, Perak FC head coach Yusri Che Lah said that despite the defeat, he was still satisfied because his team did not make it easy for TFC to win the match.

According to him, the players should not be ashamed as they gave their best performance against the Turtles, who are one of the strongest teams in the Malaysian League.

"Even after receiving the red card, our players did not give up... they stayed in the game and sought an equalising goal.

"But luck was not on our side, and after this, we will focus on the Super League match next week," he said.
