ALOR SETAR, June 19 (Bernama) -- The "Intervensi Meningkatkan Pencapaian Aspirasi Kecemerlangan (IMPAK)" programme aimed at educational excellence for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) will continue to be strengthened to enable more students in Kedah to achieve outstanding results.

The Tunku Temenggong of Kedah, Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, who is also the patron of the IMPAK SPM Programme, noted that the results achieved by students in the state since 2021 showed there was a need for the programme to be given due attention.

"These achievements have attracted students to participate in IMPAK 2022 and 2023. Last year, Kedah achieved its best SPM results in 13 years, with an improvement in the state’s average grade percentage.

“I am confident that the efforts of Yayasan IMPAK (Yayasan Inisiatif Membangun Pendidikan dan Amal Kebajikan Berdaftar), which is supported by the Sultanah Bahiyah Foundation (YSB), the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the state Education Department (JPN), will continue to lead our students to greater excellence,” she said at the national launch of the IMPAK SPM programme 2024/2025 here today.

Also present were Yayasan IMPAK education advisor Tan Sri Alimuddin Mohd Dom and Kedah JPN director Ismail Othman.

Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz emphasised the importance of parental involvement in monitoring their children's studies to ensure the programme's success.

She added that the programme would be further enhanced, particularly in digital learning technology.

"YSB is focused on narrowing the gap between urban and rural schools. We aim to provide a stronger foundation for students in subjects like English, Science and Mathematics. YSB continues to contribute and organise programmes to strengthen these core and critical subjects," she said.

The IMPAK SPM is an educational initiative for students preparing for the SPM examinations. It is conducted in a hybrid format, combining face-to-face and live online sessions, with support from the MOE, the Kedah State Education Department (JPN) and the Kedah State Council of Excellent Teachers.

Launched in 2021, the programme focuses on six core SPM subjects: Malay Language, History, English Language, Mathematics, Islamic Studies and Science. It is conducted free of charge by 42 experienced and outstanding teachers.
