KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 (Bernama) --  Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) Sdn Bhd continues to commemorate its 30-year anniversary with the debut of its charity community theatre show, ‘Najis Jadi Teman’, with the premiere show set for tomorrow at Dewan Merbau, IWK Eco Park @ Pantai Dalam, here.

The theatre produced in collaboration with Wayang Kitchen and Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK) offers an immersive and educational journey into the essential yet often overlooked world of sewage treatment.

Through a unique blend of theatre, dance, and music, the production explores the challenging and critical role of sewage workers - often described as a ‘3D’ (dirty, dangerous and difficult) job - highlighting the importance of proper sanitation for public health and environmental preservation.

IWK chief executive officer Narendran Maniam in a statement said their highest priority had always been to support those in need while educating the public about the vital importance of sewerage management to protect and preserve the environment.

“Much of our work at IWK operates quietly behind the scenes, often unnoticed, yet important in the preservation of public health and the environment. As we celebrate our 30-year anniversary, we are excited to showcase our commitment to Malaysia’s overall well-being through meaningful and creative collaborations like this charity theatre,” he said.

The opening night of ‘Najis Jadi Teman’ tonight was attended by IWK chairman Ahmad Johnie Zawawi; YCK founder Datuk Dr Hartini Zainudin and YCK Patron/Trustee, YAM Tunku Zain Al-'Abidin ibni Tunku Muhriz.

Directing the theatre production is theatrical expert Razif Hashim, featuring Malaysia’s finest talents such as singer-songwriter Atilia Haron, actor Phraveen Arikiah and Alfred Loh as the leading casts, portraying Plant Managers of IWK.

The talented cast will be complemented by the participation of youths from YCK, a local non-governmental organisation (NGO) devoted to supporting at-risk children and teenagers in the Kuala Lumpur area.

The production is aimed at both raising awareness towards the environment and public health and generating funds for YCK’s initiatives.

Tickets are still available to purchase through the ‘Cloud Joi’ platform, priced at RM100 per ticket with all proceeds to be directed to support YCK’s vital work with at-risk children and teenagers.
