LABUAN, June 26 (Bernama) -- Exness Investment Bank Limited has partnered with Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL) to award the Exness Fintech Scholarships.

Aimed at supporting talented students pursuing degrees in Data Science, Software Engineering, Technology Multimedia, and Business Computing, the initiative aligns with Exness' broader commitment to fostering the growth of the fintech sector and nurturing the next generation of tech leaders.

Exness Investment Bank chief executive officer David Moyes said that supporting these future talents would not only help them achieve their academic goals but also contribute to the development of local human capital and the broader fintech ecosystem in Malaysia.

“We are thrilled to award scholarships to these bright young minds in Labuan.

“As a hub for international business and financial services, Labuan presents a unique opportunity for students to gain invaluable experience in the fintech sector,” he said at the presentation of the scholarships at UMSKAL today.

Moyes said that the scholarships not only represent a significant investment in the future of the fintech sector in Labuan but also serve as a model for public-private partnerships that support education and drive innovation.

“The Fintech Scholarships programme, an Exness Group initiative, has already made a significant impact in countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, South Africa, Kenya, and Cyprus, supporting numerous students in their educational pursuits,” he said.

Meanwhile, UMSKAL Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FKI) Dean Assoc Prof Dr Mohd Hanafi Ahmad Hijaz thanked Exness for their support, highlighting the importance of industry-academia partnerships.

“This collaboration underscores the critical role of such partnerships in driving educational excellence and innovation.

“By investing in our students, Exness is not only enhancing their academic journey but also contributing to the broader development of the fintech ecosystem in Labuan and Malaysia. We are proud to be part of this initiative that empowers our students to become future leaders in technology and business,” he said.

The scholarships cover tuition fees and living allowances, providing significant financial relief to recipients.

Five recipients, currently in their second and third year of study, were selected based on academic merit, financial need, and a demonstrated passion for technology and innovation.

One of them, Prince Alexzander Antoh from Kg Rancha-Rancha here, a second-year student pursuing a degree in Multimedia Technology at UMSKAL, shared his gratitude:

“This degree is crucial for my future, equipping me with the skills needed to adapt to the changing landscape of technology.

“As the first in my family to attend university, this scholarship is a golden opportunity to pursue my dreams without financial worries. I’m deeply grateful,” he said.
