KUANTAN, June 29 (Bernama) -- Organising bodybuilding events resonates with the image of the police force, highlighting the values of discipline and a healthy lifestyle, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

He pointed out that participants in such events adhere rigorously to discipline across all facets of life, particularly in terms of nutrition, training and mental resilience and this commitment to discipline mirrors the esteemed image of the police force.

"A polished appearance also enhances public confidence in our officers' credibility to effectively uphold national security and public order," he said in his speech read out by Crime Prevention and Community Safety director Datuk Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad, at the closing of the Mr Police & Mr Pahang 2024 Bodybuilding and Physique Championship at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Jubilee Hall here today.

The championship was organised and managed by the PDRM Sports Council and Pahang Police Contingent Headquarters.

Razarudin highlighted that bodybuilding is well-known within the PDRM, expressing pride in the achievements of bodybuilding athletes who have greatly enhanced the reputation of both the force and the nation, locally and internationally.

“Datuk Sazali Samad's excellence in bodybuilding shines in events such as the SEA Games, Mr. Asia Championship, Mr World Universe and World Police and Fire Games, earning him the National Sportsman award four times," he said.

He is confident that Samad's success will serve as an inspiration and a benchmark for new talents to aim for.

Razarudin sees such sports championships as crucial for improving PDRM's sports development and discovering new talents.

He also advised police personnel involved in sports to steer clear of any misuse of banned substances, which could harm both themselves and their potential.
