KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (Bernama) -- Thousands of visitors have been flocking to the Bukit Jalil National Stadium since early this morning to explore various free training programmes and activities offered at the National Training Week (NTW) 2024.

HRD Corp Customer Experience head Siti Nabillah Natrah Hamshah said that over 10,000 people have visited the venue since yesterday.

“Some 30 courses are conducted simultaneously in designated training rooms from 9 am to 6 pm, along with engaging talks that participants can attend.

“The five-kilometre run held at 6.30 am today also received an overwhelming response with 3,500 participants,” she told Bernama.

NTW 2024, organised by HRD Corp under the Human Resource Ministry, has been held nationwide since June 24, while the event at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium started yesterday.

The programme aims to instil a culture of lifelong learning among Malaysians by offering opportunities for skill enhancement and education free of charge.

Meanwhile, Proton Learning and Talent Management head Shafinaz Jamaludin said they are showcasing the smart #1 electric vehicle (EV) to expose the public to new automotive technologies.

“Besides providing skills training to our staff, we want to educate the general public and inspire more people to master this technology. The response has been very positive,” she said.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Training Academy vocational instructor Lai Ching Soong said the EQA 250 EV model is currently being showcased at the programme.

“We invite the public, especially school leavers, to participate in automotive and EV industry training, with minimal registration fees, in order to cultivate more skilled workers,” he said.

Visitor Ammar Zahin Suhaimi, 27, travelled from Sungai Buloh to seek new job opportunities, including at the Employees Provident Fund booth and several other companies.

“It’s great if the government continues to organise such programmes as it really helps the public find employment,” he said.
