BURSA MALAYSIA SLIPS INTO RED AT MIDMORNING ON MILD SELLING

KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia slipped into the red at midmorning on mild selling in the logistics and telecommunication counters. 

At 11.10 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 0.30 of a point lower at 1,597.90 compared with Monday's close of 1,598.20.

The benchmark index opened 0.38 of a point firmer at 1,598.58.

However, on the broader market, gainers led decliners 498 to 386, while 462 counters were unchanged, 1,043 untraded and eight others suspended.

Turnover amounted to 2.57 billion units worth RM1.29 billion.

Among the heavyweights, Maybank and Public Bank were flat at RM9.97 and RM4.03 respectively, Tenaga Nasional rose six sen to RM14.06, CIMB added three sen to RM6.86, and IHH Healthcare edged up one sen to RM6.31.

As for the most active counters, newly listed UUE Holdings gained 39.5 sen to 63.5 sen, Hiap Teck inched up three sen to 47 sen, and Ekovest improved one sen to 44.5 sen.

JCT International slid 1.5 sen to 77.5 sen and SNS Network weakened one sen to 83 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index perked up 13.06 points to 12,295.51, the FBMT 100 Index garnered 12.30 points to 11,870.65, the FBM Emas Shariah Index increased 12.06 points to 12,637.06, the FBM ACE Index added 17.30 points to 5,876.26, and the FBM 70 Index climbed 71.77 points to 18,005.35.

Sector-wise, the Energy Index bagged 4.27 points to 974.92, the Industrial Products and Services Index lifted 0.42 of a point to 197.21, the Plantation Index advanced 3.0 points to 7,014.36, and the Financial Services Index ticked up 6.47 points to 17,502.98.
