KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 (Bernama) -- The concept of moderation in Islam will be one of the key topics of discussion in the International MADANI Symposium organised by Universiti Islam Malaysia (USIM) from July 3 to 4.
Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (ABIM) deputy president Dr Mohd Faridh Hafez Mhd Omar said in addition to discussing the concept of moderation, Hafez Mhd Omar said that the two-day symposium aims to explore new strategies to elevate the Islamic agenda to a higher level.
“The new approach being explored will demonstrate that a modest Muslim society is balanced, fair, and widely accepted by various parties.
“This is also to ensure that Islam is no longer perceived as extreme, especially in today’s world, which is plagued by chaos, war, and a lack of respect for human life and values,” he said when appearing as a guest on Bernama TV’s Malaysia Petang Ini programme here today.
Mohd Faridh Hafez the symposium at the World Trade Centre (WTC) would also emphasise cooperation within the Islamic world to steer all societies, especially young people, in a common direction.
“It’s a challenge for all parties, particularly the younger generation, who make up an estimated 40 percent of Malaysia’s population and will be driving the country forward,” he said.
