KANGAR, July 5 (Bernama) -- The MADANI Cooperative and Entrepreneur Sales (JMKU) across the country recorded a sales value of RM4.8 million as of June 30.

Malaysia Cooperative Societies Commission (SKM) said it involved a total of 183,743 beneficiaries with savings of up to 20 per cent, amounting to RM2.3 million in subsidies provided by the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP).

"The ministry will continue this JMKU programme by providing basic necessities such as rice, cooking oil, eggs, beef, chicken, and so on, with a 20 per cent savings compared to market prices," it said in statement in conjunction with the launching of the National Cooperative Month (BKK) and National Cooperative Day (HKN) 2024 here today.

The events were launched by the Regent of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.

Also present were Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli and Deputy Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Ramanan Ramakrishnan.

Meanwhile, the statement said that the government has allocated RM100 million this year through the SKM Revolving Capital Fund Financing to provide working capital to cooperatives involved in economically potential and successful activities.

“This financing package has been improved with the financing ceiling increased to RM30 million, including providing a special package to cooperatives listed among the Top 100 Cooperatives Index in Malaysia and cooperatives with satisfactory past financing repayment performance (good paymaster),” it said.

It added that RM6.75 million has also been provided under the Business Development Through Cooperatives 2.0 Programme (Development Assistance) for active cooperatives undertaking viable economic activities to upgrade their business infrastructure.

“The ministry has also allocated RM2 million under the Jom Jelajah Koperasi (JEJAK) programme where assistance will be given to cooperatives involved in the tourism sector to enhance the marketability of their tourism products such as hotels, homestays, resorts, chalets, tourist transportation services, and handicrafts,” it said.
