JAKARTA, July 9 (Bernama) -- The landslide that occurred at a community gold mine in Bone Bolango, Gorontalo province, Sulawesi, Indonesia on Sunday has reportedly resulted in 10 fatalities, with 43 individuals still unaccounted for.

Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) spokesperson Abdul Muhari said on Tuesday that the district disaster management agency continues to verify the number of missing victims.

He said in a statement that search and rescue operations, which involved over 200 personnel in Tulabolo Village, East Suwawa District, were temporarily halted at 6 pm on Monday due to heavy rainfall.

“Authorities are prioritising the safety and security of personnel and are committed to resuming search efforts once conditions improve,” he said.

Abdul Muhari said the operations faced significant challenges including unstable soil conditions and inaccessible roads to the affected area, which require a nine-hour journey on foot to reach the site.
