MOSCOW, July 10 (Bernama-Sputnik) -- Power supply was disrupted in southern Russia due to abnormal heatwave, leaving around 600,000 people without electricity, the Russian Energy Ministry said, according to Sputnik.

"Abnormally high outdoor temperatures were the cause for mass disruption of power supply in an array of Russia's regions.

“According to operational data, more than 324,000 people in the Rostov Region are left without electricity, 181,000 in the Krasnodar Territory and Adygea Republic, and 94,300 in the Astrakhan Region," the ministry said on Telegram.

The emergency repair works are being carried out in emergency mode, the ministry added.
