NATIONAL HOUSING DEPT, LPHP SIGN MOU TO REVIVE SICK, ABANDONED HOUSING PROJECTS IN PERAK

IPOH,  July 10 (Bernama) -- The Perak state government through the Perak Housing and Real Estate Board (LPHP) and the National Housing Department have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to rescue and restore sick and abandoned housing projects in the state.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said this first cooperation of its kind in this country marked a turning point in solving the housing problem that had been plaguing the people for a long time.

"This strategic cooperation will focus on three main aspects, which are close monitoring of problematic housing development in Perak, comprehensive data and technical information collection as well as systematic and efficient rehabilitation of abandoned projects," he said at a press conference after the MoU document exchange ceremony here today.

The memorandum was signed by National Housing Department director-general, Datuk K.N Jayaselan and LPHP chief executive officer Mohamed Akmal Dahalan witnessed by Saarani and Minister of Housing and Local Government, Nga Kor Ming.

Meanwhile, Saarani said so far, five projects have been identified as abandoned in Perak involving D'Aman Residence Meru Raya in Ipoh, Taman Tapah Permai in Tapah, Taman Cempaka II in Manjung, Taman Seri Emas in Kampar, and Taman Limau Mas in Beruas.

He said all the projects are now under the active monitoring of LPHP and for the D'Aman Meru Raya Residence project, it is expected to resume at the end of July and is expected to receive the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) in December this year.

Saarani also said that the latest data from the National Housing Department showed that there were 58 housing projects involving private developers involving 4,007 housing units that were categorised as sick projects in Perak until May 31 this year.
