KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 (Bernama) -- Foreign Affairs, International Business and International Cooperation Minister of the Republic of Suriname, Albert R. Ramdin, will be undertaking an official visit to Malaysia from July 10 to 13.
According to a statement by the Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra), it will be his first visit to Malaysia as Foreign Minister since assuming the role in July 2020.
During the visit, Ramdin is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with his Malaysian counterpart, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, in which both are expected to explore avenues of cooperation in the oil and gas sector, agriculture industry, finance, as well as in capacity-building initiatives.
Ramdin will also meet with Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Liew Chin Tong, and engage with Malaysian agencies and multinational companies, including the Malaysia Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), PETRONAS, Maybank, Khazanah Nasional and DRB-HICOM Defence Technologies (DEFTECH).
In 2023, total trade between Malaysia and the Republic of Suriname was valued at RM49.33 million (US$10.82 million), an increase of 30.9 per cent from RM36.36 million (US$8.26 million) recorded in 2022.
